A Journey Through Time
Sefar is one of the largest collections of prehistoric rock art in the world. At the heart of the Tassili n’Ajjer plateau, this vast mineral city holds thousands of paintings and engravings that bear witness to human presence and the Sahara’s transformations over several millennia. Cliffs, rocky corridors, narrow passages and immense sandstone formations make up a mysterious world, accessible only on foot.
Among the most famous works is the Great God of Sefar, a monumental figure that has become one of the best-known symbols of Saharan rock art. The route also leads through landscapes where the Tassili cypresses still stand, rare witnesses of an ancient environment.
